Winds of Change – Will Weigler and From the Heart, Jeremy Loveday and Spoken Word Poetry

Drawing on inspiration from Paulette Regan’s Unsettling the Settler Within: Indian Residential Schools, Truth Telling, and Reconciliation in Canada, Will Weigler is producing a 90 minute immersion theatre production opening June 12th in a donated retail space at Uptown Mall.  Will is author of Strategies for Playbuilding: Helping groups translate issues into theatre and his production, From the Heart, will be uniquely performed in a labyrinth which attendants will navigate in small groups moving every 20 minutes.  If successful, theatre goers will experience a journey of awareness, awakening, and reconciliation, that will encourage an examination of the colonialist history of this country and a move forward to heal the old wounds.  Then, Jeremy Loveday shares stories from his experiences as a spoken word poet.  Jeremy performs mostly as a solo artist, but will join Victoria’s Slam Poetry Team, Tongues of Fire, to perform in Montreal in November.  With two recorded pieces from Jeremy’s recent performance at UVic’s Congress 2013.
