The Raging Kucing Animal News Network, and Chris Dixon with Another Politics for WOC Oct 23 14

Jordan Reichert launched The Raging Kucing after seeing a need in the Victoria community for more cohesiveness and awareness between animal activist and advocacy organizations.   His approach is educational, using video blogs and encouraging members to take initiative and get involved in whatever way suits them.  Today, Jordan speaks to some local issues including rodeos, horse-drawn carriages, and the planned deer cull (massacre) as we approach the municipal election.  Then, Chris Dixon has launched a tour of the west coast starting in Victoria, sharing ideas, information, and inspiration he gathered for his latest publication – Another Politics: Writing Across Today’s Transformative MovementsAnother Politics draws on dozens of interviews with experienced organizers across the U.S. and Canada. It traces the strands of movement and struggle that have led into the anti-authoritarian current, explores the defining principles and practices of another politics, and examines the visionary political approaches and questions that are emerging from the activities of this current. Building on collective reflections, this book also distills hard-earned lessons concerning anti-oppression politics, prefigurative praxis, strategy, organizing, leadership, and organization.
