View Towers fire, renovations, and homelessness. For Winds of Change July 3 2014

The tragic fire at View Towers earlier this year resulted in about 70 more homeless people added to Victoria’s numbers, putting more stress on the service agencies and soup kitchens.  Speakers at a rally in support of the victims ask big questions:  why were so many tossed out when their apartments were clearly not affected by the fire?  Why weren’t they moved into the many empty suites in the building?  Why are there so many empty suites, when there are so many in need of affordable housing?  Industry workers, advocates for change, an elected official, and the victims themselves, speak at this rally, and there’s music from Art Farquharson and Victoria’s wonderful Raging Grannies.
