Winds of Change – Dec 6 2012 – Bill Finley (Hemp & Co), Ken Wu (Ancient Forest Alliance)

If there’s a single crop that can save humanity, many say it’s Hemp.  Easy to grow organically, this Cannabis cousin has a thick stalk that can be used for fibre, fuel, clothing, and much more.  Bill Finley is the founder of Hemp and Company, now with three stores on southern Vancouver Island, and although their presence is encouraging local clothing designers and creating employment, Bill dreams of the day when he can purchase Canadian grown hemp.  In the second half … for decades, Ken Wu’s name has been synonymous with protection for BC’s Ancient Forests.  With a few semi victories recently, some magnificent stands of old growth will remain standing … at least for a while.  Of course there’s more work to be done, and a lot of people besides Ken involved with it, but this guy knows how to build campaigns, pressure governments, and get media attention.  Today Ken shares recent news about what’s happening in the wilds of BC, particularly on Vancouver Island, from the perspective of the Ancient Forest Alliance.
