Winds of Change – April 26 2012 – Sarah Kramer, Dave Shishkoff, Joanne Shenandoah

Organizing Victoria’s first annual Vegan Festival for July 1st, local vegans Sarah Kramer and Dave Shishkoff talk about their personal experiences with the vegan lifestyle, and plans for the upcoming festival.  This Saturday don’t miss the Worldwide Vegan Bakesale, in Victoria taking place next to Sarah’s Place at 533 Pandora starting at noon.  It’s a fundraiser for the Vegan Festival – get there early, last year all the goodies were gone by 3 pm.  In the second half, internationally renowned musician and educator Joanne Shenandoah shares the legend of Iroquois peacekeeper Hiawatha, talks about the importance and power of music to celebrate culture and promote peace, and shares her concerns for the plight of Palestine where she performed with Project Peace on Earth at the Bethlehem Performing Arts Centre last Christmas.  With an enormous thank you to Shelley Bluejay Pierce who introduced me to Joanne and set up the interview.  Click here to hear Joanne’s newest recording.
