Monday’s “Defend The Coast” rally drew the largest crowd to date opposed to the expansion of the tarsands, pipelines, oil tankers, fracking, and the Site C Dam which is slated to provide energy for it all. We gathered on the lawn of BC’s provincial legislature, 3000-5000 of us, listened to speakers and music, reconnected with activist friends, and found new allies. Thanks to Chris Cook for sharing the audio he captured with various Indigenous voices expressing their solidarity against the destruction of BC’s northern wilderness and coastline. Then, Eric Nordal from the Social Coast, with an synopsis of the rally and an update of upcoming events. And, Charity Hume is a writer, teacher, and friend who has recently published The Wisdom In The Room – “a distillation of teaching ideas gathered from a lifetime of experience in the ‘trenches’ of the classroom.” She’s also a former co-host on the Winds of Change radio program.
